Colorado Christian University Wins First Ever NCAA Division II Golf Title

On May 25, 2024, The Colorado Christian University men's golf team made history over the weekend, claiming the school's first ever NCAA Division II national championship.

The members of Colorado Christian University's golf team that won the NCAA Division II national championship include:

Senior Dylan Arthur

Sophomore Peyton Jones

Freshman Bradley Mulder

Junior Xavier Bighaus

Junior Adam Duncan

Head coach Mark Hull led the team to their historic victory, the first national title for the school and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Cougars faced off against the University of North Georgia in the Division II national title match held at the Crooked Cat golf course in Winter Garden, Florida on Saturday. It came down to the wire, but CCU was able to pull out a narrow 3-2 victory to take home the championship trophy.

Seniors Dylan Arthur and Peyton Jones led the way for the Cougars. Arthur carded a round of 67 to beat his opponent by five strokes. Jones shot a 70 to defeat his match by one stroke.

Freshman Bradley Mulder struggled a bit for CCU, carding a 72 but ultimately falling to his opponent by two shots. Junior Xavier Bighaus shot an even 70 but lost his match by just one stroke.

It all came down to the final matchup between CCU's junior Adam Duncan and his North Georgia opponent. Duncan stepped up when it mattered most, winning his match by two strokes to clinch the national title for the Cougars.

The victory is a historic one for Colorado Christian University. Not only is it the school's first ever national championship in any sport, but it is also the first NCAA Division II men's golf title won by any team from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. No other Colorado-based golf program at any level had previously captured a national title.

Longtime CCU head coach Mark Hull was elated with his team's accomplishment. "Built on a foundation of former players who have helped shape the culture which has made us who we are today," Hull said. "So proud of all the guys who have made this program what it is today. What a great day for all of us!"

With their gritty performance in Florida, the Cougars have etched their name in the record books and brought Colorado Christian University its first national championship in school history.

The CCU men's golf team accomplished what many thought was unforeseen - bringing home the university's first ever national championship. Against larger programs, the Cougars relied on heart, perseverance and toughness to clinch their narrow victory. In doing so, they proved desire can overcome more tangible advantages when the stakes are highest. CCU now stands as an inspiration for any program dreaming of unlikely success, having left their trailblazing mark in university and regional sports history.
